Born in Munich in 1958.
In the early 80s he played (mainly the trombone) with the rock band Embryo and jazz greats like Mal Waldron and Charlie Mariano.
Since 1990 he works as label manager and producer at Enja Records.
In 2008 he founded his own label Yellowbird Records.
