James Hall is an American rock singer/songwriter and player of the guitar and trumpet. Born in Houston, he was a member of the Atlanta band Mary My Hope from 1987 to 1990; since then, he has been based in New Orleans until Hurricane Katrina struck in 2005, prompting a return to Atlanta.
Hall released a 1993 album on Daemon, the label of
Amy Ray of the
Indigo Girls. He then signed with major label
Geffen Records and released a second album,
Pleasure Club, in 1996. The album gave its name to a new band he founded in 2000, and Pleasure Club released two albums before disbanding in 2005.
