Sir were Jesse Jackson Shepherd on keys/vox and Elizabeth Downey on strums/vox. They were husband-and-wife, recently separated, from Melbourne, Australia. They formed in 1998.

After their separation, Jesse Jackson Shepherd reformed the band with a revolving group of musicians, releasing 2007's The Brando Room. Recently, Sir have collaborated on 2 records with Jane Badler singing the songs of Sir - 2008's The Devil Has My Double and 2011's Tears Again.
