German sound engineer, 1939-2013.
Jürgen Crasser was born in Chemnitz. After graduating from high school there in 1957, he studied sound engineering with Professor
Siegfried Mitlacher at the [l512906]. After the state examination in 1962 he worked as a sound engineer at [l269033], where he was responsible for both pop interpreters and the
Rundfunk-Tanzorchester Berlin. With the beginning of beat music in the GDR, he was also increasingly active in this field and perhaps the most popular sound engineer. In the 1980s he was the new chief sound director for pop music. At his suggestion and under his direction, the Pop Studio of the Rundfunk der DDR was built. It was the best recording studio in the GDR. After the reunification and the liquidation of the GDR broadcasting, he worked in the recording studio of the
Stern Combo Meißen in Berlin and with
Tom Müller in hes mastering studio.
