Christine grew up in Ohio and Texas. She studied fine arts, graphic design, and art history at Hunter College in New York, the Art Academy in Cincinnati, and Montgomery College in Maryland. She works in a variety of media and forms including painting, photography, video, print, and music. She has exhibited in numerous solo and group shows.
While pursuing studies in New York, she became involved in the downtown art scene of the late 1970s and began performing as a drummer and percussionist. She was a founding member of the bands Daily Life, The Static, and CKM Introject playing at Mudd Club, Max's, The Kitchen, Artists Space among other venues for experimental music and art. After a band tour of Europe, she collaborated with
Martin Kippenberger on a magazine and record, and subsequently moved to Berlin to record an LP at Studio Christoph Franke with electronic musician and drummer
Klaus Krüger. She worked as a musician for the next several years in Europe, and was a founding member of Malaria! with whom she did many recordings and performances.
