German musician, composer, producer, arranger, born 28 June 1929 in Sokolov, former Czechoslovakia, died 3 January 2006. Father of Siegi Pleyer. Attended music school in Rothenburg/Tauber; lived in Munich since 1948; from 1949 arranger for Bayerischer Rundfunk (BR) and other broadcasters as well as for Arthur Schanze, Max Greger, Hugo Strasser, Willi Stech, Ernst Mosch and many others; founded his own combo in the mid-1950s; later big band recordings with the DRS Big Band and the Zurich Radio Entertainment Orchestra; founded Junior Musikproduktion Frank Pleyer KG in 1970; Lion-Music and Music Library Frank Pleyer in 1984; founded JMP Records in 1984.
