Trumpeter Joseph Davis grew up in Nashville, Tennessee. In 1968 he joined James Brown's band where he remained until 1971, when he decided to leave music performance and focus his efforts on television production. He currently oversees the Joseph H. Davis Master Video and Film Collection, a historic archive.
