British pianist, composer, arranger and conductor, born in Manchester (1934). Accompanied Lulu on stage for some years before turning to broadcasting; worked extensively as an arranger and musical director for BBC and Independent Television. Conducted five UK Eurovision entries between 1980 and 1985, including the winning 'Making your mind up' in 1981.
