David Hopkins (Born 1954 - Nov 18 2022) ran the Public Bath label in the 80s & early 90s, releasing a variety of Japanese underground sounds. He also taught at the Faculty of International Culture Studies, Tenri University.

His main field of research was comparative popular culture, including music, film, comics, radio and baseball. Since 2015, as Kato David Hopkins, his name since acquiring Japanese citizenship, he had been the main actor in Public Bath Press, a publisher focusing on underground music of Japan.
