Son of a Yoruban king began his musical journey performing for his brother's band
Sneakers and was quickly snapped up as a vocalist for
Orlando Julius & His Modern Aces's 1966
Super Afro Soul album. By the ’70s was known as “Soul Brother Number One,” a star on the West African music scene.
In 1971, he was handpicked by
Ginger Baker for tour Europe as part of the Air Force band and further shows as part of the
SALT project. Returning to Nigeria formed group
MonoMono. Back in London in 1978 recorded his solo album.
