American music journalist, record producer, record company executive, TV producer-presenter and musician. He started writing for Trouser Press in 1978 (aged 16) and went on to contributed to a variety of publications including Village Voice, Sounds (US correspondent), LA Weekly, Observer and Mojo. He has worked in A&R for Atlantic Records and a senior producer for MTV Networks. He has also performed as a musician with the Glenn Branca Ensemble and with his own band Hugo Largo.
