German tenor, born March 18, 1886 in Düsseldorf, Germany and died October 2, 1971 in Pöcking, Germany.
He sang at the German Opera House in Berlin (1914–1923) and at the Metropolitan Opera in New York (1923–1933).
Laubenthal was married to the opera soprano Luise (Lulu) Kaesser (born 1887 in Saint Petersburg, died 1961 in Pöcking) and was the adoptive father of
Horst R. Laubenthal.
He recorded in Berlin for Parlophon (1919), Homocord (1922) and Electrola (1927/28) as in London for His Master’s Voice (1930).
