Stan Mark (1945-2022) was an American trumpet player known for his versatile career in the music industry. He began his professional journey in 1963 as a member of the United States Navy Band in Washington D.C., where he played lead trumpet and other brass instruments.

In 1973, Stan Mark joined Maynard Ferguson’s big band, where he eventually became the lead trumpet player, contributing to the band’s success during his tenure until 1982. He displayed strong musicianship and precision in his performances.

Following his time with Ferguson, Stan Mark ventured into a solo career, leading his own big band in Orlando and recording albums like Here’s Stan Mark. He also performed with various musical acts, including the Nelson Riddle Orchestra and the Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra.

In addition to his performing career, Stan Mark was involved in music education, conducting seminars and clinics in schools and universities worldwide.

Stan Mark’s contributions to the music world encompassed a diverse range of experiences, from his work in big bands to his solo endeavors and his dedication to music education. His legacy endures as a respected figure in jazz and big band music.
