Drummer, percussionist born in El Vedado Habana, Cuba. He studied violin, piano and trumpet at Caturla Conservatory of Music in Habana, and trumpet and drum set from his father, trumpeter and arranger Roberto Luis Rodriguez. Roberto began playing drum set professionally at the age of 13 in Miami with his father’s ensembles, as well as Israel Cachao Lopez. Roberto Rodriguez has performed and recorded with many great musicians such as Bashiri Johnson, Rufus Wainwright, Joe Jackson, John Zorn, Marc Ribot, Celia Cruz, Israel Cachao Lopez, Gloria Estefan, Paquito D’Rivera, Julio Iglesias, Miami Sound Machine, Paul Simon, T-Bone Burnett, Lloyd Cole, Reuben Blades, Susie Ibarra, Larry Coryell, Dr. L Subramaniam, Kavita Krishnamurti, Randy Brecker, Dave Liebman, Kim Karnes, Phoebe Snow, Dianne Shure, Lester Bowie and Leo Wadada Smith. He currently leads his septet, Septeto Rodriguez. Member of the group “The Company” from 1981-1986. Father of Robert Rodriguez (3) and Michael Rodriguez
