American A&R director and producer. Occasionally, bass player.
In the late '50s until the end of 1966 Bob Morgan was A&R director with Columbia subsidiaries Epic and Okeh. In that role he discovered and/or recorded many artists (
The Dave Clark Five,
The Yardbirds,
The Brothers Four,
The Clancy Brothers & Tommy Makem,
Damita Jo and
Enzo Stuarti). He produced all
Bobby Vinton's Epic hits. He also made singles and albums by
George Maharis,
Jerry Vale,
Bobby Hackett,
Jimmy Dean,
Cliff Richard,
Godfrey Cambridge,
Buddy Greco and others. At the end of 1966 he joined [l33261] as director of A&R operations.
In 1969 Bob has been named A&R producer at Command/[l39006] Records and in 1970 vice president and general manager at [l289904], where worked as an engineer too.
In his Yale days played bass with a college group called
Eli's Chosen Six.
