Born in Catalonia (Spain), Maria Ferré first completed her classical guitar studies at the Conservatori Superior de Música del Liceu (Barcelona-ES). Becoming increasingly interested in performance practice on historical instruments, she began studying lute and other historical plucked instruments with Prof. Rolf Lislevand at the HFM Trossingen (Germany) in 1999. She then completed her musical education with Prof. Hopkinson Smith at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis (Switzerland) from 2003 to 2006.
