Paul Johnson (aka Paul Tiers) has been playing guitar since he was 13 years old and professionally since he was seventeen. He formed Waxing Poetics in 1983 and played on all three of their critically acclaimed records.

In 1996 he opened Compactor recording studio in Brooklyn NY and recorded and played on numerous records as well as giving guitar lessons.
