Klaus Schöning (February 24, 1936, Rastenburg, Germany) is a German Hörspiel writer, director and radio producer.
Schöning studied theater and literature, philosophy and journalism in München, Göttingen and Berlin before working at the theater of [l65815] in Köln. In 1968, he established the WDR 3 HörSpielStudio which became under his direction [l305170] in 1991.
Schöning also founded WDR Prix Ars Acustica and was the first chairman of Ars Acustica European Broadcasting Union (EBU). As an executive producer, he has commissioned more than 1000 Hörspiele or sound art projects. Klaus Schöning is now teaching new Hörspiel theory at [l32458] Köln.
