Schweriner Blechbläser-Kollegium

Main image

In 1975, musicians from the Mecklenburg State Orchestra and the Schwerin Philharmonic came together to form the Schweriner Blechbläser-Kollegium under the initiative of trumpeter Hans-Joachim Drechsler.
The Schweriner Blechbläser-Kollegium has set itself the task of opening up the music of the Renaissance and early Baroque periods for practical music-making, taking on the specific compositions of the 20th century and encouraging composers of our time to write for wind instruments. Tailor-made adaptations, such as Engelbert Humperdinck Hansel and Gretel supplement and expand the existing base of originals.
