Born Rafael Leon René, 30 March 1927, Los Angeles, California. Son of label owner and songwriter Leon Rene. US bandleader Googie René also spent time as an A&R man, producer and director. He was responsible for starting Bobby Day's career. He died on November 25th, 2007 in Los Angeles.
