Dancer and background singer with Prince and The New Power Generation from 1992 to 1996, married to Prince from 1996 to 2000. Born Fort Rucker, Alabama 1973.

In 1990 Mayte’s mother convinced some members of the NPG to give a bellydancing video to Prince. Ten minutes later, Mayte was asked backstage by Prince, and for the next two years, they kept in touch.

Away from music, she perform bellydance, appear in several television shows & movies, work as choreographer (she taught Britney Spears some belly dancing moves for her iconic performance on the MTV Video Music Awards in 2001), is activist for [l579145] and run an animal shelter called ’Mayte’s Rescue’. In 2017, she released a book titled The Most Beautiful: My Life with Prince.
