Aaron Alexander is a New York City based klezmer and jazz drummer, composer, bandleader and educator. He is the leader of klezmer/jazz/world music band Midrash Mish Mosh. Alexander is the founder/director of the New York Klezmer Series. He has released 4 CDs as a leader: Aaron Alexander Sextet, Blues for Sparky; Midrash Mish Mosh (on Tzadik), Conversational Music (duo with Julian Priester); and The Klez Messenger (w/Michael Winograd & Patrick Farrell). He has recorded several CDs with Hasidic New Wave, including contributing original music and production. He has recorded two CDs with Babkas (w/Brad Shepik & Briggan Krauss). He has recorded 9 CDs with Satoko Fujii Orchestra West. He has recorded and toured extensively with The Klezmatics (1996-2005), Frank London's Klezmer Brass All-Stars (CDs Brotherhood of Brass, Carnival Conspiracy and Vilde Mekhaye w/Eleanor Reissa). He recorded two CDs with vocalist Jay Clayton. Two CDs with Greg Wall's Later Prophets (Tzadik). Two CDs with Klezmerfest (Party Music & Life of the Party).
