German bassist and vocalist in the Krautrock era, born May 6, 1947 in Hannover, Germany; died August 30, 2019 in Canada.
He started in several local Beat and Rock bands and was eventually recruited as bassist for Progressive Rock band
Jane in 1971. He left the band twice until 1974 and later that year, he formed
Harlis together with two other Jane-alumnis. After two albums, they had no commercial success and the band gave up. In the late 1970's and the early 1980's, Maucher went solo with the Charly Maucher band. In 1982, he shortly returned to Jane, but left after recording of their album Germania. In the late 1980's, he emigrated to Canada together with his wife.
Around 2000, he was part of one of the Jane-successors
Peter Panka's Jane and stayed in that band until his passing in 2019.
