He was the inventor of the modern recording console and is recognized as a key figure in the development of the postwar commercial recording industry. The first studio he founded was [l309484] in Chicago. In 1957 he went to Los Angeles and founded [l274588], parent company of the famous [l268751]. He later purchased [l303551] next door and merged the two entities, creating the famous [l284627].
He charted with a song he and his wife wrote together Good Morning, Mr. Echo three times in 1951. It hit #12 by Jane Turzy, then #21 by Georgia Gibbs, and finally #14 by Margaret Whiting.
