While in the recording industry Barry oversaw the role out of the compact disc in the US for Philips-Siemens. He's also a pioneer in the recording reissue business that came to prominence along with the Compact Disc. He founded the independent label Upside along with Investor Robert Melvin Rubin and Musician Gary Lucas. Featured artists were Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member Charles Brown and the iconic and influential Arthur Russell.
