Trinidadian jazz clarinetist and saxophonist (alto and baritone), born August 8, 1909 in Trinidad, British West Indies. Educated in Barbados, moved to New York in 1924, recorded with Bill Brown & His Brownies 1929, played with Horace Henderson, Don Redman 1931-1938, and Louis Armstrong 1938-1944. He worked with Lucky Millinder in the 1950s. Father of Ronnie Cole.
