Noise rock trio formed in 1990 in Moorhead, MN, by Paul Sanders (guitar/vocals), Paul Erickson (bass/vocals) and Jeff Mooridian Jr. (drums).
They later relocated to Minneapolis, and disbanded in 1996, after Sanders quit the group. Erickson and Mooridian later resurfaced as Vaz, while Sanders created More RAM.

In 2010, Hammerhead played two reunion shows (one at AmRep 25th Anniversary and the other one at Death By Audio in Brooklyn, NY) and released an EP of new material - Memory Hole. They continue to record and release new material.
