Recording in a makeshift studio with an Ampex 350 at their record store in Detroit, Devora & Jack Brown scored a national US hit in 1953 with Jealous Love by the Davis Sisters. This gained a lot of attention for up-and-coming rhythm & blues and doo wop artists in the Detroit area, who began to record on the label. One such artist was the notoriously 'sleazy' Andre Williams.
