US songwriter (Dear Old Girl of Mine), composer, author, producer and publisher, a high-school graduate who then appeared in Liberty Theatres during World War I and produced his own shows. During World War II he entertained in hospitals, camps and the USO. Joining ASCAP in 1951, his other popular-song compositions include Some Day You'll Want Me to Want You, It Wasn't In the Cards, Lonely Nights, Blackberry Jelly Nellie, and Ding Dong Bell. He published the song Someday (You’ll Want Me to Want You) in 1944; the song could actually have been written by Hugh Starr.
