Q YA VY is a group of experienced musicians representing several generations and environments, referring to various musical cultures.
The Toruń scene is represented by the group's leaders: guitarist and composer Mateusz Kurek Qrek and baritone saxophonist Jacek Rodziewicz. The pianist and composer Bartek Staszkiewicz also comes from this city. One of the best jazz saxophonists in Poland comes from Gdańsk: the tenor player Maciej Sikała. The rhythm section of the band is made up of a family trio from Wrocław and Warsaw: the most famous Cuban living in Poland Jose Torres, plays percussion, his older son Tomasz Torres plays percussion, and the youngest in the family Filip Torres, plays the bass guitar.
