Following the departure of guitarist
Mike Bloomfield, Wright joined
The Electric Flag in 1968, having been brought in by
Buddy Miles. He played on their
American Music Band album that was released in 1968. Both Wright and former Electric Flag trumpet player
Marcus Doubleday were members of the group
Sweet Apple who recorded an album for Columbia that was released in 1970. He also played guitar and banjo on the song Hooray For Hollywood from David Soul's
self-titled 1976 album.
