Thomas E. Pough aka DJ Polo (born in New York City in 1963 – July 27, 2024) is an American DJ and producer best known as one half of the hip-hop duo Kool G Rap & DJ Polo. Emerging in the mid-1980s, he was the turntablist behind Kool G Rap’s intricate rhymes, helping shape the sound of early hardcore and mafioso rap. The duo released three influential albums—Road to the Riches (1989), Wanted: Dead or Alive (1990), and Live and Let Die (1992)—before parting ways. Thomas later pursued production work and remained involved in the hip-hop scene, though he stayed largely out of the spotlight compared to his former partner. He passed away on July 27, 2024.
