While entertaining soldiers at Camp Black, during the Spanish-American War, Cobb met lyricist
Gus Edwards, and they formed Words and Music and Cobb & Edwards Songsmiths, a partnership that lasted for many years. Cobb was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1970.
