Mike wrote the lyrics to the title song Theme from M*A*S*H (Suicide Is Painless) for his father's 1970 movie, M*A*S*H, at the age of 14 (Johnny Mandel wrote the music). The song charted four times between 1970 and 1992 in the U.S. and the U.K., including hitting #1 in the U.K. in 1980.
As an author, he uses the pseudonym, Michael Barleycorn.
