Scott Free is a Chicago-based composer, lyricist, performer and live music event producer.
He was a producer in the '80s House scene. As a musician, his Beat The Rap was one of the first independent rap videos played on BET, and he was part of the '90s queercore scene.
He has released solo albums and an LGBT family album by his pretend group The Diesel Tykes. He runs the queer performance series Homolatte, and the indie queer radio station AltQ Radio.
In 2005 and 2009 he was named 'Outmusician of the Year' at the OUTMusic Awards, and in 2010 was inducted into the City of Chicago Gay and Lesbian Hall of Fame.
He has had three musicals produced - 'Witches Among Us', produced by New American Folk Theatre in 2015, and 'Zombie Bathhouse' & 'House Musical', produced by his own Campsongs Productions in 2017.
