British conductor and arranger who began his career in the early 1950's as a classical pianist. He arranged much of the recorded music for George Melachrino in the late 1950's - early 1960's. Many of Hill-Bowen's records were made for [l60756]. Some of them were marketed anonymously under the name of the Singing Strings and occasionally The Romantic Strings, however, not all Romantic Strings recordings can be attributed to Hill-Bowen. The high-point of his career as a light orchestral conductor was reached when he made numerous recordings with the Living Strings.
