Agnès Varda (30 May 1928 - 29 March 2019) was a Belgian-born French film director. Her films, photographs, and art installations focus on documentary realism, feminist issues, and social commentary. She has spent most of her working life in France and was married to Jacques Demy from 1962 to his death in 1990.
