Recording sound engineer. His formal musical training has also included 15 years of piano and 8 years of mallet study. From 1974 to 1978 he performed as a percussionist with the Santa Barbara Symphony and played as a keyboardist in numerous jazz ensembles and rock groups. From 1977 to 1984 Kucera worked for the University of California at Santa Barbara as the Arts Library's Recording Engineer and Archivist for the Boucher Collection of Opera Recordings. Since 1984, Kucera has held the position of Chief Recording Engineer of Warren Music Center Studios, Department of Music at the University of California at San Diego.
