Germano Montefiori

Main image

Germano Montefiori was a pioneer of Italian orchestral music, a sax virtuoso; he began his musical adventure with the clarinet at the end of the Second World War. Then he discovers the saxophone and joins a group that is hired to play in front of the allied troops in Germany.
It is here that Germano Montefiori discovers the charm of American jazz and swing, which is told to him by the troops who are entranced by his music in the evening. Louis Armstrong, but above all Charlie Parker become the musical reference points of Germano Montefiori, who except for what little lesson he learned to play alone.
Then after the splendor of the sixties comes disco music; Germano Montefiori has to reinvent himself, playing in the liscio orchestras. Meanwhile, the two sons Federico and Francesco form the Montefiori Cocktail, they gain success and are appreciated in the many CDs they publish and in many of which the beloved father also plays.
Germano Montefiori died at 73 in December 2007
