American violinist, violist, composer, copyist, author and music professor. Head of the music department at Western Kentucky University from 1965 to 1975. Founding member of The Nashville Strings, Principle Violinist of Nashville Symphony, recording artist in various Nashville studios. Father of John Carpenter, grandfather of Cody Carpenter.
