Along with his partner for over 40 years, the late Fritz Baskett, they have written many songs for Deniece Williams, The Emotions etc.
He has played with (and for) an incredible number of musicians : Aretha Franklin, Gloria Gaynor, Ray Charles, Buddy Miles, Lionel Richie, James Taylor, Maurice White ... to name a few.
