American jazz percussionist, producer, and engineer.
(do not confuse with jazz drummer from NYC,
Steve Reid.)
Born: 6 January 1944 in Omaha, Nebraska, USA.
Reid begun releasing material in 1987, scoring his greatest success yet as a co-founder of the enormously popular contemporary jazz group The Rippingtons, also crossing over to pop audiences as a member of Supertramp.
Named as Jazziz magazine's Percussionist Of The Year in both 1993 and 1995, in between issuing his solo debut, the worldbeat-influenced [m=911169] (1994), then the follow-up [m=1176768] (1996).
Subsequent efforts included
Mysteries (1997) as Steve Reid's Bamboo Forest,
Passion In Paradise (1999), and finally [m=1261001] (2001).
