A childhood friend of
Fred Waring, Poley McClintock co-founded the band, the Waring-McClintock Snap Orchestra, that then grew into
Fred Waring & The Pennsylvanians, one of the most popular dance orchestras of the 1920s. Apart from drumming, McClintock also contributed numerous vocals, singing his parts in a humorous, low-range frog-like croak.
