Yuriy Sharifov (1946.05.25 – 2017.07.21) is a famous Ukrainian bass-guitarist, musical director and composer. He was a graduate of the Lviv Philharmonic and for a time performed in the legendary Ukrainian pop group Червона Рута (Chervona Ruta). In 1977 Sharifov formed the legendary group Живая Вода (Living Waters), at a time when electronic equipment was extremely difficult to obtain under Communism, and the group performed Ukrainian and Russian songs using synthesizers in the style of funk and disco.
