US hillbilly disc jockey and host of Uncle Jim Show, WLBS, Birmingham, AL. He later worked for WBRC (same city). He was also a member of the group Jim Atkins and His Barnyard Sweethearts. As a manager of
Hoyt Johnson, he co-wrote several songs including Where Are You (1957), retitled It's A Little More Like Heaven by
Hank Locklin and You're The Nearest Thing To Heaven by
Johnny Cash in 1958.
