C.R. Avery is a roots musician, slam poet, published writer, beat boxer, filmmaker and painter from Canada.
Avery was born in 1976 in Smiths Falls, Ontario, Canada, grew up in Ottawa, but has lived and is associated with Vancouver’s east side.
Avery has mixed music styles including blues, folk, hip-hop, spoken word and rock & roll into recordings and has mixed media for performances. .From musical beginnings in his late teens, he has recorded over fifteen albums as well as writing & directing six hip-hop operas, which were mounted and performed from New York's Bowery to L.A.'s South Central. He has toured throughout Canada, the US and Europe and garnered the attention of music peers the likes of Tom Waits, blues harp trail blazer Charlie Musselwhite and folk legend Utah Phillips.
