Brief career as a recording engineer. Started work at Jacobs Studios, in Farnham working on 3M 32 track digital tape machines and SSL desks, when both were relatively new in the industry.

Moved to Air Studios London as an assistant engineer and worked with a number of high profile artists, including:

- Dire Straits
- Robert Plant
- Kevin Rowland
- Heart
- Stephen Tintin Duffy
- Bryan Ferry
