Dear Music Lover, We have all known for some time that as a result of the phenomenal success of the CD and the ever decreasing demand for the LP, the fate of our vinyl disc factory was sealed. So it is that in February 1993 the factory on Maarweg will be closed down. There is no denying that this is a sad moment in EMI Electrola's history. However, we did not want this event to go unmentioned and have decided to produce a Special Limited Edition Vinyl LP. These 3 LPs are dedicated to all those people who, since 1952, were employed at the Maarweg factory and who contributed to making EMI Electrola into one of Germany's leading music companies. On the back of the enclosed booklet you will find the names of all those staff who worked at the factory during its last year, 1992/93; they are the last of over 2,000 people who were employed by the factory in the past forty years. This LP box is a musical documentation of 40 years of our company's history in Cologne. You will hear artists whose names are inseparable from that of EMI Electrola's and who were superstars in their day. This LP set is, however, also a last tribute to a sound carrier which was invented over 100 years ago by Emil Berliner.
Includes a 4 pages inlay sheet with German and English language notes on the history of EMI Electrola's vinyl factory at Maarweg 149, Köln (Cologne).
