Notes for the 2013 version:
Meeting and jamming with French pianist Michel Petrucciani inspired Charles Lloyd to form a new quartet and start touring and recording again. Bruce Lundvall issued Montreux '82 by the group on Elektra Musician in 1983. By the time Charles offered Bruce the music from the July 1983 Copenhagen Jazz Festival with Bobby McFerrin guesting on two tunes, Bruce has moved over to run the Blue Note label where he would soon sign McFerrin and Petrucciani. Bassist Palle Danielsson and drummer Woody Son ship Theus [sic] complete this excellent quartet. Of Course, Of Course and Sweet Georgia Bright are bonus tracks from the same concert. – Michael Cuscuna
