The song is dedicated to the 16th Commonwealth Games 1998 in Kuala Lumpur.
Standing In The Eyes Of The World is not the official song for the 1998 Commonwealth Games but it was adopted by a TV station NTV7 as it’s official song during the coverage of the game.
It was written by Wah Idris and David Gates. Two versions were recorded: an English version by Gates and a Malay version by Ella.
It was more popular and recognised compared to the official song of the games and was considered a classic song depicting courage and strength.
